OMA (Outpatient Medication Audit)
Waitemata DHB's Clinical Research and Resource Centre is running a research project to better understand outpatient medication use. The Centre needed software for data entry and approached PSAL to develop it. Data quality and validation were top priorities. The OMA database required only one user at a time so MS Access 2002 (VBA) was selected as the development tool. The OMA system uses a conventional Front End/Back End split.
Data from a number of different DHB's also had to be transformed into a common format and migrated into the OMA database.
Following this, assistance was needed with the actual mechanics of statistically processing the data and analysing it. PSAL created a lot of SPSS syntax and macros to facilitate efficient and documentable analysis. The OMA project is an example of a long-term support role for a research project.
